Creating a Personal Account on Health Library

Creating an account on Health Library is free and allows you to personalize your experience by giving you the ability to:

  • Access self-assessment, create custom quizzes, and save quiz results
  • Favorite content to easily return to later
  • Print content
What information do I need to provide to create an account?

To create an account, you will need to provide your first and last name and a valid email address. You will also need to set up a password. Some optional fields include your user role (i.e., student, instructor), whether you are affiliated with a school or university, and whether you'd like to opt-in to receive email updates.

Why do I need to create an account if I access Health Library through my institution?

If you access Health Library through your institution, you likely access it as an anonymous user. Even if you login using your school's Single Sign-On feature, you are still considered "anonymous" on Health Library.

When you create a personal account, you are able to personalize your experience and save information that is most relevant to you.

How do I create an account on Health Library?

If you have not yet created an account, attempting to access Self-Assessment or favorite content will prompt you to create your account. You can also click here if you are accessing Health Library through your institution.

Will I get a lot of emails once my account is created?

You can opt-in or opt-out of emails when you create an account. Once your account is created, you can update this choice at any time by accessing your profile.

I've created my account. How can I make the most of the features now available to me?

Self-Assessment

From within any Health Library product that has self-assessment available, click the Self-Assessment button in the top navigation bar. You can select any of the topics that are relevant to your learning goals and create a custom quiz based on those topics.

When creating a custom quiz, you can update the quiz name, number of questions you'd like to take at one time, how many seconds you'd like to spend on each question, and whether you'd like to check your answers immediately.

Once you've taken a custom quiz, you can retake it, focusing on questions you've previously gotten wrong or focusing on new questions you haven't yet seen.

Quiz results are saved and you can revisit them at any time.

Favoriting Content

Most content on Health Library can be favorited to access easily in the future. From entire textbooks to specific chapters to figures and tables, all you have to do is click the star icon. Once favorited, the star icon will turn gold. You can click it again to remove the content from your favorites.

You can access favorited content in two locations:

  • From within any textbook Table of Contents or reading view, the "My Favorites" section can be found in the upper right corner of the page. Note that this section will only display the most recently favorited items and may not display your entire favorites list.
  • When you click your name in the upper right corner, you will see an option to access My Favorites. Clicking this will take you to a page where you can see all your favorited content and can filter it based on the content type (books, chapters, figures, and tables).
